MRP planning incorrectly when PO outside time fence

Hi guys,

I have a situation that I cannot work out and it is proving very frustrating

Basically, to mitigate supply risk, our SCM team have ordered an item for delivery approx 5 weeks outside our normal delivery time fence from Vendor B.

After running MRP however, we are finding that the system generated Purchase Reqs from Vendor A that lie between the time fence and the PO for Vendor B are not planned early enough and hence do not cover the demand even though they are outside the time fence.

It appears that the priority for MRP is to re-schedule the POs from Vendor B instead of planning the P.Reqs for Vendor A in the right place...

FYI - For the item in the picture, the PDT is 14 days and the GR is 6 days.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

MRP first tries to reschedule your existing purchase orders irrespective of the vendor, only after that MRP creates supply plan i.e. purchase requisitions. It does make perfect sense. As your supply doesn't align any more with demand your first course of action should be to reschedule existing orders instead of creating more supply.

You can however define which supply elements MRP reschedules - transaction OPPQ:

Thanks Dominik, I had found reference to this table online but the explanations as to what it actually did were a bit vague.
