Reset user's password in portal

Portal UME connects to an ABAP stack to authenticate users.

I Configured SMTP server under System Admin -> UME Configution give the SMTP address in notification emails to use the existing notification funcionalities,however the system is not sending the mail

I have done the test In the Portal and see that atleast the password was changed.


How can check the cause of the error?

I have done this configurations:

Configure Self-Management
Navigate to User Administration > Identity Management. Create a new UME role.
In this case the role is called xyz.company.EveryUserRole.
Modify the UME Actions for the role.
--Add UME.Manage_My_Password and UME.Manage_My_Profile to the role.
--Add the UME.Read_My_Profile action if read-only access to the profile is required.
Assign the role to the Everyone group.

Configure UME Settings
Navigate to UME Configuration. Modify the User Admin UI tab.
Enable u201CRequire First and Last Names in Logon Helpu201D and Enable/Disable Security Question.

Configure E-Mail Notification
Navigate to System Administration > System Configuration > UME Configuration.
Select Notification E-Mails tab.
Click Modify and enter SMTP server address and System email address. Save the settings.


Create a UME role called xyz.company.LogonHelp.
Assign the action UME.Logon_Help to the role.
Assign the role to the Anonymous Users group.

***Restart Java engine.



I have setup the standard reset functionality. Now the password is getting reset if you provide the logon id , lastname , firstname and emial address correctly , but we are not receiving the email notification.I have defined the SMTP server address and System email address in the UME configuration.

As per your description, I see that you have setup the standard reset functionality. Now the password is getting reset but you are not receiving the email notification and thats your issue. Please correct me if I am wrong.
