Dear Experts,

We are having 12 payroll Areas ( All are monthly) now, due to the management decision I have to reduce the pay roll area 03. how can i do this.

If i delete the payroll area , i think it will effect the history of the employees,

so how can i delimit the payroll area??? or what is the solution for this?

Thanks in Advance.

Hi,

1 Create new 3 PY areas

2 Take a Cut-off date in discussion with client.

3 Take a backup of IT0001

4 Download the list of emoployees in excel the IT0001 records

5 Check the feature ABKRS, if you are maintaining the default PY area for

the Pers. Area Just check how many PA are been used in the system.

6 Again discuss with the Client FI & HR department and suggest if they can

maintain the parrallel sets of PA already existing so the History is maintained

or directly change the IT0001 PA using the Feature ABKRS and update new PA

in the Feature & IT0001

Hi Usha / sikindar,

Thanks for your quick reply.

ABKRS feature also activated for those 12 Personnel Areas to 12 Payroll Areas,

My requirement is:

for an Example.

Payroll area 1.2.3.4 should come as Payroll area 01. And payroll area 5,6,7,8 should come as Payroll area 02, and Payroll area 9,10,11,12 should come as Payroll area 03.

If i change the text of payroll area , i don't think tat i will get my real requirement and also i cant delete the payroll area bcos i think it will effcet the employee history.

what shall i do??

You need to change IT0001 for all employees whose payroll area has changed..

You need to change ABKRS feature also..

Hi Archana,

Ok. if i create new Payroll area and also if i changed ABKRS , will u think tat all employees payroll are will get update automaticaly in IT 0001 according the new payroll area (ABKRS)????

If i want to do the manual changes. assume that each employee has 5 records in the IT0001. so do i want to update all record for the all employees.?? (6000 employees are there)

other problem when i delete and create new payroll area, what will hapen to the employee history??

thanks & regards

Hi Manjula,

1. you can't delete the existing payroll area otherwise you can't run retro for those emp.

2. If you will replace the existing payroll area to a new payroll are, may be system will trigger retro. Even as per my understanding you can't change the payroll area for the periods payroll has already been run. It wil through the error 'PayrArea unchangeable for periods for which payroll has run'

3. So, accordingly modifying the feature ABKRS is also not suggestable.

one alternate u can try, create a new payroll areas and configure ABKRS for those payroll area without modifying the existing data of feature and assign these to the emps. keep old payroll areas in the system to avoid any kind of inconsistencies. i hope it even doesn't harm u to maintain those payroll areas in system if you are not assigning these to any1. Now according to Usha u cn change the text to avoid any further confusion.
