Upgrade from SAP integration XI R2 to XI 3.1

Hi,

We are currently using BOXIR2 and SAP kit XI R2. We are planning to upgrade to BO XI 3.1.

Question-

1. We want to upgrade the kit to XI 3.1 ? what should be the process for upgrading?

a. Should I uninstall XI R2 kit and install XI 3.1 kit after BO XI 3.1 installation or is there a option for upgrading from XI R2 kit to XI 3.1?

2. SAP kit works only with .NET or Java as well?

hi Purav,

are you going to use the same hardware ?

You can also move things from one system to another. Perhaps you can put some background on what you do have (like an inventory) in the XIr2 system.

I think you should also post this in the BusinessObjects Enterprise forum to get the general feedback on the migration and here we can talk about the SAp specifics

Yes, the BO upgrade is going to use the same hardware only the CMS and Auditing sources change for 3.1. I am pretty much clear with the BO upgrade as I have done couple of times before. I have not done is the SAP upgrade.

I was thinking of uninstalling SAP XI R2 kit before I do the BO upgrade from XI R2 to XI 3.1. Once upgraded, install the 710 GUI and the integration kit. Do let me know if this is the correct approach or if you have any suggestion/steps, do let me know.

Hi,

just because there is "SAP" involved it doesn't necessary change your overall upgrade.

so when using the same hardware it looks like you might have to go for the uninstall / install or upgrade path.

how may report are there ? all of them CR ?

any instances ?

About 50 odd CR.... handful of instances...

If I understood it correctly -

1. Uninstall the integration KIT XI R2

2. Upgrade BO to XI 3.1

3. upgrade/install the GUI

4. Install the XI integration KIT

5. Configure the SAP authentication (importing roles etc)

Please correct me if I am wrong.
