DeskI, Designer,... can't connect to CMS


I set up a new BO XI R2 SP5 system (vmWare, Windows Server 2003), the server and all BO services are up and running.

Some clients cannot connect to the server at random - sometimes it works, sometimes not. DeskI or Designer return various errors: CMS not found (USR0013), FRS Input not found (DX0016).

However, these clients are in the same LAN segment as the BO Server. There is no firewall between the clients and the BO server.

The BO Server has 3 network cards; we already changed the binding order of these cards with no success.

We searched the SAP Knowledge Base but couldn't find a solution.

What could be the problem?
