Control recipe cannot be created while while releasing a process order --

Dear PP Gurus,

As I am trying to release a process order with control recipe generation I get the message. No value assigned to the characteristic 0020pppi_instruction 0000 phase 1010 and also get the message no text fouind for characteristic 0020order xxxphase 1010 operation0000.

I get the pair of these messages for all the phases .. when I try to assign a value in the process order operations and process instructions I observe that for that charactetristics the fields are greyed out .

Please help .
