BPC and SSM integeration

Hi All,

Does anybody know if any version of BPC is integerated with SSM.

If not, does SAP intend to integerate these two in the future and when?

Thanks in advance.

Anurag,

It does depend on what you are meaning as integrated.

If you are looking to drive status ratings and KPI numbers in Strategy Management with data from BPC, you can pull data via ODBC or ODBO connections. Which is what Strategy Management can already do with data from other applications, databases, as well as having a connector to pull data from SAP BI.

In Strategy Management there is the ability to provide links to link to documents, other web pages, or other applications like BPC. Granted, not as graceful as a tight integration, but quicker ways of moving between the applications.

Starting with the 7.5 release, products in the FPM suite which includes both BPC and SSM will move toward tighter and tighter integration, like SSO, etc.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for this valuable information.

I have passed it along to my technical collegues and hopefully they will be able to work out a strategy based on your suggestion.

Thanks again.

Hi Bob,

You mentioned that you can link documents in SSM 7.0.

Are you talking about configuring links in SSM admin or in SSM User Interface?

Could you indicate where you can configure this links?

Thank you very much for your support.

Kind regards,

Santiago

Santiago,

Good question. Throughout Strategy Management you can link to other documents, applications, or web sites through Associated Links.

In the Administrator section, you can include Associated Links to Perspectives, Objectives, and KPIs. On the User side you can use Associated Links in Initiatives. Also on the User's side you can include pdf files in an Operational Review, so you can put together a briefing book with material outside or beyond what is in Strategy Management (as long as it is in pdf format).

This allows either further/deeper understanding of a goal, initiative, or metric as well as allow an ease in navigation to get to other areas that support a goal, initiative, or metric.

Thank you for your quick answer Bob.

I was wondering if a final user could attach .doc or .xls documents to initiatives, milestones and sub-milestones in order to describe deeper these elements. A perfect procedure would be having a browser in the initiative window to look for the document in your local PC and uploading it to a particular folder of the server.

It would be a good functionality to the final users the availability of the project definition or the detailed project information of a certain initiative.

Does SSM 7.0 support this functionality? Do you think it will be a customer modification?

Thank you again Bob.

Kind regards,

Santiago

Santiago,

Right now, Associated Links is what is used in SSM to refer to other documents or spreadsheets with Initiative milestones and submilstones.

It is always good to get feedback about what enhancements or functionality is needed and useful. I will pass along this request to our product managers and developers.

Thank you!

Bob

Hi,

Actually these two product are not integrated.

First version with a complete integration between SSM and BPC will be 7.5.
