Hi Guru's

We have a scenario where in availability check needs to be carried out at make to order sale order item level for similar item lying in unrestricted stock.Item similar to this could have been made in the past and due to sme reasons it is availble as unrestricted item for same.Do we have any way out as scope of check does not consider Unrestriced items

Thanks in Advance

First of all, in Make To Order scenario, you cannot see any stocks in unrestricted but against a specific sale order which means it is earmarked as a Special Stock.

I dont think even if you transfer that sale order stock to unrestricted, system will do availability check when you create a sale order.

thanks

Hello Anson

The quickest way for the resolution for this particular case would be to use movement type 413 and transfer the stock from unrestricted to sales order stock and then all the exisitng settings would work fine

hope this helps

Hi Akasha,

I had even thought in that direction. While saving sale order requirement would get tranfered for new requirement. At what stage I can do this ?

Hello Anson,

Is this for a particular case or would it be continuous process ?

if this is a particular case , then you may transfer the stock after the production has confirmed it and the finished material is in storage location, then transfer posting would help

but if this is a process as such , the it would be advisable to process the sales order requirement and convert the requirement into production order, the confirmation of it would lead to automatically a sales order stock.

the settings for auto confirmation into production stock is PP config and PP consulatnt ncould figure this out

for lying stocks , hwoever you can do this at stage you want the delivery to be done , so trasfer post , manually check avilbility and do the delivey

Hope this helps

Thanks

hi Anson,

in MTO scenario, the availability checking rule is AE, which is not checking the stock. as you required, you may want to alter this checking rule a bit, but please be carefully and think this thoroughly. this is going to have influence on almost everything else.

Hi,

Thanks Michael .As you mentioned, for MTO, for the combination of Checking group 02 and checking rule AE , scope check is hard coded in the system. Do we have any way out.

Hi,

If this is a rare case and you need to do once in a while like this... you may go for changing this stock to production and post the same to this particular Sales order with the help of PP consultant...

If this is regular case... you may use Standard Make To Stock item category (TAN) for the material... and after availablty check if you dont find any stock, you can change the item category to make to order one...

I would change the item category to TAN, assuming standard SAP availibiity will check unrestricted stock. Also, you may have to add TAN in item category config
