APO - DP - CVC

Hi All:

I have a generic question. When CVCs are created based on an InfoCube, and say, if the InfoCube has 1000 records of which it has null KF for 200, will the 1000 CVCs be generated or will 800 CVCs be generated. I thought CVCs are generated based on InfoCube if the KF is not NULL. Also, if the InfoCube has more than 1 KF, which value will it look for, to check if it is 0 or not? Pl. help

As far as I know when CVCs are generated from an Infocube only the characteristic keys are used (the DIM tables) and keyfigure data is ignored (the FACT table).

So it does not matter if you have zero or null value in keyfigures for certain combinations - still CVC will get generated.

Disclaimer: I am still in very old version of APO (4.1 to be exact). Correct me if I am wrong in latest versions 5.0, 5.1? or Suite 7.0

Hi Narayana ,

Its correct that the Fact table is not considered and only Char Combinations are accounted for the CVC generation.

But you can restrict the Char Combination to come in the customized Infoprovider from source data target by filtering it in update rule for those key figure/s which has zero values (for ex.) and can be customized as per your requirement.

We have similar rule defined in our setup where we filter out combination whcih has zero value in all KF and only take those char.Comb having all key fig value zero for last month horizon CVC generation program .

Hi Narayana,

CVCs will be created based on Char combinations even if Key figures has null values.

Easy way to cross check this is using the transaction LISTCUBE.

While using LISTCUBE choose options "DB Aggregation" and in field for selection choose only characteristics.. This enable you to confirm this your self.
