How to check and update Version of HDB Client Version in Windows Server

Dear All,

I am writing this question with reference to a requirement.

Got a recommendation from SAP to update the HANA DB client in our BODS(that calls HANA ECC /CAR Direct). Server is on Windows x64 environment for all Dev and Quality landscapes.

They have diagnosed the existing/current version to be running on SPS 8 and our Current HANA DB Version is on SPS12 which is not recommended.

So based on the Note 1906576- HANA Client and Server cross-version compatibility, SAP has requested to update as below.

HANA Client to version 2.0 (Latest) - This Supports connections to HANA Servers 1.0 SPS 10 or higher, and 2.0
HANA Studio (latest) - plus plugins (like ABAP Development Tools etc)

So my question is as below.

1. How can I find out or check the current version of HDB Client in Windows.

I have tried the below command from the path D:\Program Files\sap\hdbclient\install
hdbinst --version.

But I am only getting the Hana Life Cycle Management Information.

So can anyone please help to how to check the exact HDB client Version from Windows Server ? Is there any command which we need to execute to get the version.

2. Also do we need to uninstall the current client before proceeding with the Update ?

Then executing the uninst.exe will be enough ?

3. Also what is SAP trying to mean here by saying HANA Studio (Latest) - plus plugins.

Is there any good article/guide which we can refer ?

Hello,

1) You can verify the version of HANA Client drivers under ODBC Administration -> Drivers

2) You can perform the direct upgrade, no need to uninstall the previous version (you can also see a client tools version as well)

3) SAP HANA Studio is a tool to manage SAP HANA Database - download the current version and install it. I recommend to delete previous version before starting new install
