can anyone help me regarding this?

when i tried to double click "SAP" under authentication, a window popped up stating that message.

i'm rather new to this, if you don't mind please don't use too much of jargons.

i'm sorry but im unsure of jargons.

currently im using businessObjects enterprise and businessObjects XI integration for SAP solution.

Sorry, what do you mean by web server? As in central management console?

is it a must to have a java connector? as i need to be able to retrieve reports from SAP BW and present in business objects enterprise.

Hi,

you need the SAP Java Connector 2.1.8 in order to use SAP authentification, and to see SAP data in your reports published on your BOE Server. You can download this here: [http://service.sap.com/connectors]. Look at the left side of your browser window and go to SAP Java Connector -> Tools & Services.

When you install Business Objects XI Enterprise on your server you have the choice to install a new tomcat application server or to use a pre-installed application server. Which one did you choose?

When you install the Business Objects XI integration KIT for SAP you can choose either to let the web applications be deployed automatically during the install or deploy them manually after the install. If you have not install the SAP java connector and the installation of the integration KIT terminated succesfully then I guess you choose the manual option. This can get complicated since you have to deploy the web applications manually. The best way to go in your case is the following:

1 uninstall the BusinessObjects integration kit for SAP

2 download the SAP Java connector and extract the files in the correct directories (In order ot help you with this i need to know which operating system your server is using (Windows, Linux), if it is 32bit or 64 bit and which web application server you are using in your BusinessObjects Enterprise Installation)

3 Reinstall the BusinessObjects integration kit for SAP and choose the option to automatically deploy the web applications on your web application server.

oh currently im using window 32 bit.

and im using busniessobjects XI 3.0

do you mind briefing me on where to extract the java connector in the correct directory?

HI canti,

just copy librfc32.dll and sapjcorfc.dll under C:\windows\system32 (could also be c:\winnt\sytsem32 depending on which windows version you are using) and copy sapjco.jar into <your business objects installation directory>\tomcat55\common\lib. All of this BEFORE you install the int.KIT for SAP.

i came across a page, asking me for the gateway service and gateway host address.

how can i find out whats the correct gateway service and gateway host address?

Hi canti,

use the hostname (full qualified domain name) of your SAP BW server and sapgw## as port (where ## ist your system number, mostly 00 ie. your entry should be sapgw00). It is important though to note down your input at this screen and then to follow the instructions in the chapter "Configuring a destination for the BW Publisher service" on your BOBJ int.KIT for SAP installation documentation. It is all about defining an RFC desitnation on your SAP BW server after you finished the BOBJ installation.

Okay, heres my SAP BW Server details.

Application Sever : 172.20.184.168

System Number : 10

System ID : ERP

SAProuter String : nil

so my hostname should be 172.20.184.168?

gateway service and gateway host address is both 1000?

Hi,

This is the first entry in the installation and it is asking for the CMS.

The CMS should match you machine name and the default port is 6400.

CMS Name: <machine name> Port: 6400

User Name: Administrator

Password: **********

Authentication: Enterprise

Then the installation is asking for the details for the publishing service in case you asked to deploy it:

Program ID: FYPJCYZ

Gateway Host: 172.20.184.168 (here you might want to enter the server name from BW)

Gateway Service: 3310 or sapgw10

Extra(Optional): Blank

I assume your SAP system is a BW system - or ?

im also wondering, must the program ID match the program ID of the RFC?

Im using the BW system, SAP BW.

how do i confirm the gateway service is 3310? the "10" is because of the system number?

can the gateway service be used as sapgw10 too? or does "sapgw" refers to 33?

Hi,

the gateway port must be either sapgw10 or 3310. Take whichever option you like but do the same entry when you define the RFC destination on your SAP BW server.

Yes, the Program ID on your RFC destination must match exactly the one you gave when you created the gateway service during the installation.
