Hello Experts,
We participate in Ramp-Up BPC for Netweaver version (BPC 7NW SP01).
Our problem: Templates saved with Excel 2007 cannot be opened with 2003.
Templates are developed in Office 2007.
Use Note 1240811 - Known issues with BPC and Office 2007:
Problem description (Bug 1857657): Template Crashes in Excel 2007, Excel Template broken while opening in 2003. Templates saved with Excel 2007 cannot be opened with 2003.
Work around: a) Install 'Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system' file on
client machine which has Office 2003.
b) Change file extension 'xls' or 'xlt' to 'xlsx'.
c) Open template.
But this note for BPC 5 or BPC 7M!
We check on two PC:
PC user-1:
u2022 Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats (FileFormatConverters.exe)
u2022 Office 2003 Service Pack 3 (SP3)
PC user-2:
u2022 Only Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats (FileFormatConverters.exe)
(Office 2003 Service Pack 3 (SP3) doesnu2019t installed!)
PC user-2 corresponds to recommendation Note 1240811.
PC user-1 u2013 Note 1240811 it is added.
b) Change file extension 'xls' or 'xlt' to 'xlsx'.
At preservation Dynamic Template it is possible to choose only ' xls' or ' xlt '
How to change file extension 'xls' or 'xlt' to 'xlsx'?
I use 2 variant:
Variant1:
I use transaction UJFS
- Download template on the PC
- Save asu2026 NameTemplate.xlsx
- Upload template NameTemplate.xlsx
Variant2:
eTools menu u2013 Open Dynamic Template
Open File dialog appears
Choose NameTemplate.xlt and Rename File
Change file extension NameTemplate.xlt: xlt u2013 xlsx
Whether properly I change expansion of a file? Is there other way?
u0441). Open template
Using Excel 2003:
PC user-1:
Template opens, but only for reading: All BPC Functions return u201C *Name? u201D; Data input is impossible (the message stands out u2013 there are no data for input).
This error doesnu2019t disappear after use of functions u201CExpand Allu201D and u201CRefresh Workbooku201D from u201CeToolsu201D menu.
PC user-2:
Template do not open. The message u2013 the Unknown format of a file
Can prompt in what a problem or where it is possible to look?

Kiril
This is a compatibility issue for MS Office 2003 and 2007. We deliver the fix (it is a purely .net client fix) in SP02, which is planned to be released March 13th.

Hi Pravin,
We sent a message to SAP Support, but we have not received the answer yet.
My PC (with Office 2007) there is no file Micosoft.Office.interop.excel.dll in C:\WINDOWS\Assembly, but on the other PC with Office 2007including Micosoft.Office.interop.excel dll in C:\WINDOWS\Assembly (with verion 12.0).
But result without changes. On the PC with Office 2003 cannot be opened templates.

Kirill

Hi Kiril,
Have you informed your ramp-up coach about this issue? You should also log an OSS message for this if you haven't done that already.
Can you please check if you have Micosoft.Office.interop.excel dll in C:\WINDOWS\Assembly (with verion 12.0) ?
Regards
Pravin
