SMS-400 device type

Hi,

I have been asked to add an SMS-400 label printer to SAP. I can't find any suitable device types. I have already checked notes 1097990 - List of Printer Vendor Wizard Notes and 1036961 - Device type selection wizard in transaction SPAD to no avail.

Any ideas?

Hello,

If your printer is not listed in the notes, you can try to use device type SAPWIN/SWINCF.

Hi David,

That may very well be the best solution, but it requires installation of the printer driver on the print server if I want a backend solution. I had hoped for a solution inside SAP. I don't have access outside SAP at my customer and procedures here for making changes are a little cumbersome!

Regarding the Printer SMS-400, this printer vendor is not part of the SAP PVP see SAP note 1100779.

With the SAP PVP Printer Vendor program (see SAP Note 1130927) printer vendors are empowered to build device types for their printers in a well-defined and well-integrated manner. In SAP Note 1100779 you will find a list of all members of the SAP Printer Vendor program. Each member of the SAP Printer Vendor program has a SAP Note (Printer Vendor Wizard Note) in which they can provide information about new supported printer models.

For a full list of Printer Vendor Wizard Notes please check SAP Note 1097990.

As your printer model is not listed in the Printer Vendor Wizard Notes, please proceed as described in SAP Note 1103826.
