What are the building blocks in CRM?Need details about them

Hi all,

I am new to CRM,like our company is using as say XXXX ticketing tool,now they want to replace with SAP CRM and also want to generate reports SAP BI,Now we are doing some analysis on CRM.

My doubt is what are building blocks in CRM?

With each building block what kind of settings can be possible?

If any one has done similar kind of development work can you please guide me.
