Steps required for upgrading SAP PI 7.1 dual stack to sap pi 7.5

Hi Expert,

We are upgrading our current SAP PI 7.1 dual stack system to SAP PI 7.5 with same licences. We are installing PI 7.5 Java only(AEX).But while installing PI7.5 it is asking for ABAP UME.

We are not using ccBPM in any of our interfaces. Does we still require to install ABAP as separate stack? Kindly help we are stuck with our development.

Heard that in 7.5 it is dual usage instead of dual stack,just need to know is it mandatory to install ABAP stack? We want to run our all interfaces/process from java stack.

Please suggest.

Adding to above query, in this upgrade process we are installing the sap pi 7.5 in a fresh new server. The existing server has old PI will discontinue it after upgrade.

Hi Rajesh,

If you are installing a fresh new system, you can choose between

- Process Orchestration, Java only (recommended)

- Process Integration, Dual Usage Type (2 separate systems with different SID)

In case of PO Java only, there should be the option (by default) to use Java UME as datasource.
