DMO back out possibility

HI Boris ,

Can you highlight some of the fall back possibilities in DMO . In case after the DB move is completed and business decides not to go ahead for the time being or there is some error in execution phase for which we need to postpone the activity may be for few weeks and we do not want to reset the complete procedure from the DMO tool itself then what actions / possibilities are there to quickly go back to my original source DB for may be couple of days . We know our source DB is intact but there are many places ( Like profile ,user environment )where the DB information would have been updated with the target HANA DB information. Do we need to manually modify them to connect the source DB again ?

Hi David ,

Thank you so much for your input .. One doubt .. my understanding - Once the downtime is started the DB is pointed to HANA DB (Correct me if my understanding is wrong). At this point if I simply restore my source DB (anyDB) , will the SAP application server automatically re point to old DB? The DB information for application server is updated in the application server file system level . ( Profile file , sidadm Environment etc.)

Secondly - As per DMO guide the Source DB is kept as-is but not updated anymore . In that case is it really necessary to restore it ?

The best way to revert the situation would be to restore the system (SUM directory and System DBs) to the DOWNTIME confirmation point. and continue the activities on the original system. The upgrade Target system can be ready to continue the downtime phases again when you decide to continue.
