CCM or MDM?

We currently use EBP version 3.0 - classic scenario, with a Requisite catalogue. We are about to upgrade to SRM 7.0. I had asumed we would use CCM version 3.0 for the catalogue. I have now read a lot about MDM, and am wondering if we need CCM and MDM, or has MDM replaced CCM?

If MDM has not replaced CCM, why would you use MDM instead of CCM?

If you use MDM do you need the search engine TREX?

Many Thanks

Claire

Hi,

as SRM 7.0 contain the SRM-MDM 3.0 catalog you should use this instead of CCM.

The SRM-MDM 3.0 was developed in combination with SRM 7.0, so the usability and compatibility is better.

Hi,

We are currently in the process of defining the integration possibilities of the SAP CCM and SRM 7.0 and providing this in official documentation.

Currently, the best answer to provide is yes AND no.

Yes - SAP CCM is supported as an SAP application in standard maintenence until 2013 on a 640 or 700 WAS

No - It cannot be deployed in the same server/client architecture as SRM_SERVER 700 due to the differing Basis releases, i.e. SRM on NW 7.01 Basis.

So - in a nutshell, you can use CCM with SRM 7.0 if you host it on it's own server, you will then not have the standard functionalities like contract distribution or Product Master Data exchange from SRM -> CCM. The catalog should then in terms of calling, be considered an external catalog and not be configured in SPRO to use an integrated call structure as no testing has/will be done to determine the reaction of the BSP application in the SRM 7.0 framework.

Hope it will Help!!!

Hi Shrini

Thanks for getting back to me.

I realise from some of my previous investigations that you need to use TREX as the search engine with CCM. Do you happen to know if you need TREX if you use MDM? When I have had a look at the architctural diagrams for SRM 7.0, and the release notes etc. I can't seem to see any mention of TREX.

Tahnks

Hi,

SRM-MDM Catalog is the main stream catalog solution. CCM is maintenance mode and no new fictional enhancement. SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0 supports new Service Hierarchy (MSS) scenario.

Hi,

TREX is not required for SRM-MDM Catalog.

TREX can be used for attachment search if item in MDM has PDF attachment, but it is optional advanced technics.
