Where to buy PowerDesigner DataArchitect from?

I am an independent consultant and I would like to purchase PowerDesigner DataArchitect (PD DA). However, I find it a bit challenging. I am trying to find the lowest price to pay.

1. There is the confusion with the editions. I noticed that there are resellers that still sell PD DA/DM which would be the cheapest option. If I buy it am I going to be stuck with an obsolete version? Does SAP still provide updates for it? If I buy the support, and this line of software is discontinued, will I be offered the option to upgrade? I cannot find anywhere this information. The other option is to buy the edge edition but it is more expensive.

2. Finding a reseller - I did try to use their site, however, when I select PD in the software list, there are a lot of results coming back and most of them are consulting companies that try to sell services, which I don't need. There is no way to make the distinction between resellers of software and companies that try to sell services and SAP software.

I contacted SAP but it lead to nowhere. I am too small to get their attention 🙂

Any advice? Can you recommend resellers? I found two, but I want to find more and compare prices.

Regarding the difference between DataArchitect DM and Edge, the diagrams seem to indicate that Edge includes Conceptual Data and Data Movement. But you might be right. The diagram for the DM version is old.

I believe the word EDGE is a marketing tool, and doesn't really represent different functionality. You could contact Sandhill Consultants in the US/Canada, they're very helpful, and they can sell you PowerDesigner (if you're in their area) -
