Job (C) use best practices

Experts,

This question is in regard to best practices/common ways that various companies ensure the proper use of the Job(C) object in the HCM systems. For example, if there are certain jobs in the system that should only be assigned to a position if that position is in certain areas of the business (i.e. belongs to specific organizational areas), how is this type of restriction maintained? Is it simply through business processes? Is there a way/relationship that can be assigned? Are there typical customizations and/or processes that are followed?

I'm looking to begin organizing jobs into job families, and I'm currently trying to determine and maintain the underlying organization of our companies jobs in order to ensure this process is functional.

Any insight, thoughts, or advise would be greatly appreciated.
