Release Strategies

Dear Gurus,

I have Implemented RS for my client with the following characteristics.

Material Group

Total Value

Doc Type

My release strategy is working fine for 1 item ... but as soon as I enter 2 line item the release strategy goes off.....I have checked all the parameters.. for both line items everything is same..

Please guide me wat to do ...

As understand release strategy is at header level & material group can be different for each line item.if that kind of charactersitic comes which depends upon the item level then release strategy does not become effective for that particular purchasing documents.

So in that case it is recommnded not to choose the characteristices which are item level depended

But I have included all the Material groups in the characteristics....

so now lets say if i chosse 2 materials with different Material Groups but both groups are maintained in the characteristics....system should apply the Release strategy....

If not wat should I do to handle this scenario...

Actually My clients wants me to apply Release startegy on MATERIAL TYPE.... since there is no option for Material Type in CEKKO and CEBAN....

therefore i decided to handle this at Material Group level....

Please suggest me wat to do in this case....

Hi Roger,

To trigger release when you give two different material groups, do the following.

1. In material group characteristic value -

---

> dont enter anything in value and in description, say, "BLANK".

2. select Blank also the characteristic value.

then create Pr...This should work.

the point is I want to trigger different stragtegies on different Material Groups....if i willl write BLANK in the description how will i trigger different stratgeies for different groups....

If you want to trigger different release for different material groups, then i assume that you wont put different material groups in single PO.....

Correct me if i am wrong.

Hi ,

Please check the characterstics you defined and for line item 2 ,please check the material group .In your case your have defined a chanracterstic as an Material group .So there may be a case that material group of second line item didn't match.

Second reason please check the value condition.

whether the Material Group is group same as u defined in release strategy.

And Check the Total Value which is falling in your criteria?

Hi,

Release strategy will not work if you are giving diferent plants in PO.

Check the materials maintained in both line item, whether these materials have same material group mentioned in the release strategy.

Hi,

May be the value will be doubled with 2nd item and this may be resulting in not effecting the release startegy.

Please check the total value of item and compare it with release value.

check the material group for the second item and the combination which u have maintain in class and check the release statergy. hope this will help u.
