CRM Lead/Opportunity/Activity GUID

Hi,

I have a query on uniqueness of CRM GUID (Lead/Opportunity/Activity) which could impact historical data migration from CRM to BI.

1) Is the GUID unique for a given CRM box (physical system) ?

2) If more than 1 client configured on the same CRM box u2013

a.will the GUID be unique across clients?

b.or can the same GUID occur in 2 different clients on the same box? i.e (Client, GUID as Key)

My version of CRM in use is 6.0.

Thanks,

Priya

Hi Priya,

A GUID is Global Unique Identifier

The function module GUID_CREATE can be used to create 16-character byte type GUIDs, 22-character character type GUIDs with uppercase and lowercase letters, and 32-character character type GUIDs with uppercase letters.

The GUID is indeed unique for a given CRM System since it is generated by the system itself and every Order GUID represents the Orders Physical extension so the GUID is unique for the System

For Multiple Defined Systems the GUID uniqueness depends on the System configuration.

As per my knowledge, though the Machine (Physical Box) is same but the Systems are Different so the System shall create different GUIDS for the different systems.

Hope it Answered your Queries...

Thanks and Regards,

RK.
