Dear All,
At our client - there is requirement to use Service Orders to capture the planned activities and their associate benchmarks. We will also be capturing the actual time confirmations on the service orders. We are planning to capture the parts as document line items on the Service Order.
However since we are not using CO module how can we bill the customers based on actual hrs on the service order?
I have few questions u2013
1.) If costing is out of scope, how billing can be achieved in SAP for actual labor hours ?
2.) Since there will not be any cost associated with the service order, how can we technically complete the Service Orders without performing settlement.
3.) In case client in future wants to go for costing, what will be the impact on current design ?
It will be great help ....if anyone of you has worked on this type of scenario.
Thanks in Advance
Adi

Is it mandatory that service order costs have to be settled to a receiver? It only depends on the business. There can always be some cases where the costs need not be settled at all. Just set the settlement profile so that settlement is not mandatory. Then business closure is possible even without it. TECO of course is.

Hi,
1. wherein you can assign the WBS Element. This will control even the Budget of the project.
2. Once the Service Order is created you can post the cost to G/L account through FB50 transaction (FI).

By billing I assume you mean resource related billing. I don't think RRB will work without costing. Because the basic tables which act as source for RRB are cost item tables. Still, everything is possible if you make alterations to the programs. But you will have to do a cost-benefit analysis.
I suggest that you don't think only in lines of RRB. You can write a program which can copy the materials and detemine materials for the activity types. This program can refer to one of the RRB profiles but only for material determination and can create a debit memo request or a kind of resource related quotation.
Hope this helps.
