Passcode on Application Policy General Tab

What is the use of passcode which is present in ios application policy general tab.

Is this Device Passcode or do we need to set app level in coding ?

Such info is available in the standard documentation.

"Whether devices must have passcodes for the application to install.

Passcodes must be configured on devices and recorded in device inventories before the application can install. Refresh the device inventories if the passcodes were set since the last refresh of the device inventories."

I want to know what exactly the passcode option do here.

If i have new app policy and enabled passcode, and alreasy device has passcode. What will be the behaviour at device end ?

Will it prompt user to enter passcode before install or every time when user tried to open app will ask to enter passcode?
