Hi All
Currently, we are using the MB1A mvt type 201 (write off to Cost Centre) as a method of writing off our lost stock. This is followed by the usual TR/TO conversion and confirmation.
I recently read that it may be possible to use MB11 to write off (or on) stock losses (or gains) using the correct mvt types (711/712)
Are there any pitfalls in using MB11 over MB1A/LB10/LT12?
Are there any transactions I need to perform following MB11? I couldnt find anything else to do after transacting MB11! IM and WM stocks were correct.
Finance are OK with the current process of writing off stock to a cost centre but I expect the accounting documents created using MB11 would be the prefered process.
Thanks in advance
Darren
If a movement can be posted with MB1A and/or MB11 is just a defintion in OMJJ customizing transaction.
711/712 are movement types that indicate differences in a WM location.
If you post this movement manually in MM, then SAP posts to interim storage type 998 differences storage type in WM.
And you have to create TOs to adjust the differences in the real bins (TO to move the difference from difference storage type to the correct bins)

I have transacted a few materials using MB11 in our test client but cannot find any data in 998 storage type that you mentioned.
I used LT10, LU04 and even LX03 but no data in 998.
What transaction can I use to view the 998 differences?
I do see the problem of using MB11. Although I have to enter a recognised Storage Type in MB11, I do not have to enter a valid Storage Bin. This in turn will create a negative in WM if the Storage Bin is not recognised. (if there is sufficient stock). Using LT01 would clear it up but using this process will take longer than using the MB1A/LB10 and LT12 process we currently use.
Thanks again in advance for your help Jurgen

If you do the MB11 with movement type 711, what storage type do you enter?
I cannot enter any storage type except the interim storage types, as my system is customized to not allow IM movement for WM storage types that are not interim storage types.
If yours is customized differently and you dont enter 998 as storage type, then it is obvious that you cannot see the different in 998 storage type.
The storage type can be viewed with LX02 transaction
Jurgen
Yes I see what you mean.
Our system has no customing in this area, therefore, I could enter any storage type (much to the detriment of WM stocks as you mentioned) I think I will keep this transaction to myself !
I tested again using the 998 type and processed through MB11 then LT01.
I think its a Finance call now as to whether we use the MB11 method or MB1A current process. Transactional wise, (number of key presses) there is little difference between them from a warehouse use perspective.
Once again, many thanks for your assistance
Darren
Hello,
I don't think there is any difference except getting an additional option of taking reference of PO in case of MB11.Please refer following link....Hope it helps
