Crystal XI Developers Edition 11.0.0.1282 vs. Crystal XI R2

I apologize in advance for my lack of tech-savvy lingo, I'm still in the learning process. We currently write our reports using Crystal XI developers edition 11.0.0.1282. We are in the process of converting our application to a web application written in Java. Our reports run fine in this environment. However, we will continue to have client-server customers that use our application. One customer in particular has Crystal Reports XI R2 .Net 3.0 Runtime (11_01_2007), msi. When they run our reports it destroys their office environment. What I need to know is if we upgrade to Crystal XI R2 for the runtime will it be backward compatible for all of the reports written using Crystal XI? I've been asked to find out "what pieces are needed to put in client server or java application and distribute". Are there any specific licensing or general requirements needed? What version does the runtime come from? Again I apologize if I'm not making any sense. This is what I know (admittedly, not much) to get started with this post. I'm blindly feeling my way along here. We run on a SQL DB.

Hi,

In order to display reports from your application where designer is not installed you need the Crystal runtimes. These are available [here|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm]. But please remember that you should use the proper versions of dlls because if the dlls are of different version then your report may not work in the target machine.

Also our product is forward compatible, meaning to say that if you upgrade your reports to a higher version of Crystal you may not be able to open it in lower version again.

You should contact our sales team to get information related to licensing.

Requirement would be:

To have the Crystal runtimes(you need to provide keycodes), .Net framework and your .net application.

Thanks.

What do you mean by "it destroys their office environment"?

Good question. I asked our tech guys and they said that it destroys their profile. They haven't been able to narrow it down to a missing file or files. I wish I had more to give you but that's all I've got. Does it help at all?
