Prepare fails

Hi folks,

I am an experienced OS/400 user but have not done an upgrade on this platform for about two years.

My problem: I started a prepare from 4.6C ASCII to ECC 6.0 ASCII with old tools (SR2). I completed the step where FIX_ERP2005SR2.UPG is checked and unpacked. When the prompt appeared to upgrade SAPup I decided to restart with SR3 tools.

I ran SAPup '/usr/sap/put' 'reset prepare' but this step failed when trying to run a transport.

On advice of SAP I deletetd /usr/sap/put and restarted the prepare.

With the new prepare tools (SAPUP patched to 25.016) I get only as far FIX_ERP2005SR3.UPG is checked and unpacked.

Error:

Correction package '/usr/sap/put/FIX_ERP2005SR3.UPG' found, extracting to

'/usr/sap/put'

SAPup message

SAPup> Upgrade Correction Package

Error -52 during extraction of the upgrade correction package FIX_ERP2005SR3.UPG

Please check file CAR.ECO

CAR.ECO only contains a reference to pid -1.

I ran SAPup '/usr/sap/put' 'check DEBUGON' to hopefully see what happens but I was unable to see the cause of the error. Apparantly there is no DEBUGOFF option.

Now I decided to delete everyhing (libraries SAPUP and SAPUPSRV and /usr/sap/put ) and to restart from scratch using directory /usr/sap/putec6.

As soon as I patch SAPUP to the latest version it is running in DEBUGON mode again and the prepare step fails at the same step FIX_ERP200SR3.UPG.

There must be some additional item that I need to delete in order to restart in a clean environment but I have so far been unable to find it. Also delete / recreate of the user profile and IPL did not help.

The <SID>OFR is running with *SECOFR rights and I ran 'chmod -R 777 /usr/sap/putec6' in QSH.

Any ideas ?

Thank you Fredi
