Installing anoter DB6 version on Same Server

Dear Forumers

I was tasked to install a CRM instance on our existing DEV system with ERP 6.0 and DB6 8.2, I now need to install DB 9.1 on this server.

1. Can this be done?

2. If it can, how do I go about it without getting the DEV instance of ERP 6.0 and its DB6 to stop functioning?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Compiled Sep 22 2007 04:20:08

/usr/sap/CRD/SYS/exe/run/R3load -testconnect

DbSl Trace: DbSlConnect to 'CRD' as 'sapcrd' failed

DbSl Trace: DbSlConnect to 'CRD' as 'sapcrd' failed

/usr/sap/CRD/SYS/exe/run/R3load: job finished with 1 error(s)

Hi Rob,

the R3load error message is not very helpful. Could you please run "R3trans -x" as user sidadm and post the contents of trans.log.

Hi Frank

The output of running the command R3trans -x is:

This is R3trans version 6.14 (release 700 - 17.10.07 - 17:33:00).

unicode enabled version

2EETW169 no connect possible: "DBMS = DB6 --- DB2DBDFT = 'CRD'"

R3trans finished (0012).

Hi All

Thank you very much, I have started, but are running into DB connection problems.

It is by the way on HP_UX installing SAP CRM 2007 with DB2 9.1.

1. yes

2. use an instance specific installion path, such as /db2/db2<sid>/v91/... or anything similar

when you're migrating db2 from 8 to 9 and you have multiple sap systems/db2 systems on one server you'll need to install more than one db2 software at the same time (old and new) when migrating only one system at a time

Hi Rob ,

which product version do you want to install and is it Windows or Unix/Linux platform ?

With current installations there should be no problem .

see SAP Note

930487 DB6: Using DB2 9.1 with SAP Software

Best regards
