Best way to Export report as Word and allow user to edit text in word?

Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue where our client absolutely require the capability to Edit the text fields once the report was exported as Word Document. (so business process may edit the exported report in word accordingly).

Let say, one of the field (textbox 1) had five lines original when preview in CRViewer. User export the report as Word Document. User 2 then open the exported report as word document and attempt to modify in Word.

If user were to edit an existing line without adding any additional line within the Frame enclosing the paragraph of text; it would work fine. But as soon as user add more line within the original text enclosed by the frame (or increase the font size for text within the frame), data within the text would be truncated since the Frame size remains static. Eg. Add two more line to textbox 1 (7 lines total), the last two line of paragraph in the text would be truncated.

I can expand the frame to show the truncated text of paragraph, but expanding the frame does not shift any other text fields (ig. TextBox 2) that are below the edited text field (textbox 1); therefore, causing Edited Text (textbox 1) to overlap with Textbox 2.

I tried exporting as word document and rich text format, both behave the same.

Is there a format i can export or save as document so that the saved copy of the report would behave completely as if it is a word document rather than text being enclosed or limited by the frame size? Or any other method/workaround?

James Williams had posted a simliar issue on Feb 11, 2009 but i suspect no new line had being edited to the existing text field.

Any help would be gladly appreciated.
