Reason for assigning a communication category to an Email in the Content Studio

Hello together,

in the content studio it can be assigned a communication category to an email. Is this only be done for the following reason (Link)?

In other words to check the limits? If there are no limits assigned to the communication category it would not make sense to assign it to an email then?

Moreover it is mentioned here:

Does this mean that Email WITH assigned communication category are shown only in campaigns there the same communication category is assigned?
