BPC 10.1 Data Manager Package Filter/Favorites SP 31 and above

Hi all,

I am trying to understand the use of new "Favorites" in Data Manager Package that we have to use, instead of our legacy "filters". Earlier, we could save a filter with BAS(account_node) and just use that filter in the package. No matter how many base members were added or removed in the back end we still could run the package without making that selection again, since in the prompt it would show "[FILTER: BAS_account_node]" and we were set.

But in the newer support packs, I have understood that this functionality is obsolete and we have to use Favorites instead. The biggest problem we have here is, if the back end master data changes for the filter, it does not automatically reflect this in the package selections. We have to go and re-select the favorites for the changes to be correct. This is a problem because we use a lot of filters and every time we don't want to make the selections redundantly. There are a lot of cases where we would want to run the same packages same Filter, over and over again during the course of our forecasting cycle. e.g. Right before the cycle opens, ECC will create a bunch of master data and we would load PL Actuals and we would have same filter for account [FILTER:BAS_top_account_node].

Is there a work around where we can make the selections on Favorites once and it behaves in a similar manner as old filter ([FILTER: BAS_account_node])?

Your inputs will be greatly appreciated, since we are planning a SP upgrade sooner than later and this would be a big problem.

Thanks

Abhi
