    Usually in 5.3 the CDROM should already be setup to be mounted and you can simply do a 'mount /cdrom'.

    If this is not the case then do the following:

    • Edit /etc/filesystems and add:

    /cdrom:
            dev             = /dev/cd0
            vfs             = cdrfs
            mount           = false
            options         = ro
            account         = false

    Make sure the directory /cdrom exists and then you will be able to do a 'mount /cdrom' each time you want to use the cdrom without having to remember any commands. Then copy the cd's to a directory of your choosing.

    Another easier way would be to use a program like [Winscp|http://winscp.net], mount the CD's in Windows and then simply copy the data to your home directory using Winscp.

    Regards,

    Hi,

    You want to copy all installation media on AIX. Than first of all create a dir "xyz" & insert CD in disk drive & mount CD using the command.

    mount -v cdrfs -r -o upcase /dev/cd0 /xyz

    Hi,

    mkdir -p /cdrom/unnamed_cdrom

    mount -F hsfs -o ro /dev/dsk/c0t6d0s2 /cdrom/unnamed_cdrom

    The /cdrom/unnamed_cdrom variable represents the CD-ROM mount directory and the /dev/dsk/c0t6d0s2 represents the CD-ROM drive device
