SAP SQL Anywhere 17 - database after reboot not reachable

Hi all,

after upgrade from v16 to v17 all databases (e.g. DS_REPO) except CMS and Audit databases are not reachable after every reboot of the server. Currently we are using IPS SP4 Patch 5 and SAP Data Services SP9 Patch 3. Is there a way to set an autostart option or something like else for the databases?

Hi,

How are you starting your database servers? Are the database that are not reachable included in your server's startup command line?
If they are included, do you see any errors in the database server's log?

Regards,
Evgeniya

"databases are not reachable after every reboot of the server" - does this mean the system is completely down, or do you have a way of making them reachable until the next reboot?

Generally speaking, the database server should be running as an automatic service or daemon. "Autostart" in a SQL Anywhere context generally means to launch the server process on first connection attempt. Setting your service or daemon to Automatic (if it is not already) is generally preferable to autostarting the server.

No not the system is down. Only the database doesn't run after a server reboot. The service starts automatically, that's not the problem. I start the database "DS_REPO" by logging into the CMS_DB (CMS and audit are running - that's strange). From there I navigate to "context" and select the database server. Now I can see the current running databases. And then right click < start database < ...
