Automatic quantity reduction at the material staging area

Hi all,

I have an unreserved stock of raw material A at the material staging area(storage type). It's a remaining stock used in previous production batch.

Now I have a production order asking for a quantity of this specific raw material. What are the settings needed so that T.R. / T.O quantity created is automatically adjusted to take into account the remaining quantity at the raw material staging area?

Hi,

I assume you speak about remaining quantity from previous PrdOrds.

In this case please visit: SPRO > LE > WM > Interfaces > Define Production - here choose "Stor.Typ" button on Control data tab. This is SAP's explanation for "Deactivate qty reduction" field:

Switch off quantity reduction for TOs for PP mat. staging
Indicator that switches quantity reduction off when the system generates transfer orders.
Use
When the system generates transfer orders for a transfer requirement for PP/PP-PI production orders with individual materials that are assigned to a control cycle as pick parts with fixed storage bins, quantity reduction routinely takes place in the system.
The system checks the destination storage bin in production for unrestricted-use stock to prevent unnecessary transfers out of the warehouse from taking place. The check for unrestricted-use stock in the production bin affects system performance significantly and is carried out even though an unrestricted-use quantity cannot be determined (because only partial quantities are staged).
If this indicator is set, quantity reduction is stopped when the system generates transfer orders, thus preventing system performance from being slowed.

So, you can use this only in case of fixed bin - the default setting is qty reduction in this scenario. In dynamic bin scenario it is not possible to consider stock in other PrdOrd's dynamic bins as per my best knowledge.

Hi,

As for WM-PP interface setting please check this:

Additionally, you have to set wm-mvt 319 (or whatever you use) in SPRO > LE > WM > Activities > Transfers > Define Movement Types - here choose the suitable mvt and set storage type 100 (in standard system) as destination bin and write your production storage bin in "Stor. Bin" field. Remove anything from "FxdBin" and "Src" checkboxes.

Please be careful: TR open quantity is not component qty in PrdOrd - component qty in the production bin! When you start to process the TR from LB10 you will get the message:

Open quantity reduced by available stock
Message no. L3361
Diagnosis
The transfer requirement is to supply material to a storage bin in production.  Part of the material required is already in the bin.  For this reason, the requirement quantities are updated accordingly.

So, TR quantity will be reduced when you are being created the TO starting from LB10! I tried and it works fine.

I created the mvt type, I have the interface WM/PP set up for auto T.O creation and the reduction is still not taking place. I'm still checking maybe at the material master level.
