SAP BOBJ 4.2 SP4 p1 client tools can't access the repository.

Hi,

I just installed SAP BOBJ 4.2 SP4 p1 on RHEL 7.2, every thing working fine like CMC, Bi Launch pad, SNC connection, BICS connection and most important Promotion management to sync different environment objects into this server repository. Issue is - getting error when try to logon rich client tool IDT,UDT or Webi rich client "server not available xxx:6400"

-already check the host file entry for the same server - no effect

-all services including CMS,APS running fine

-when i telnet the IP of the server using port 6400 on windows console - telnet can't find the server.

is there port 6400 should open in server side? but again promotion management is working fine to sync objects from source to target system.

any suggession?

first check if auto assigned option is selected for CMS, Input/Output and Connection Servers ports in Server properties in CMC.If yes then assign static ports which are opened between server to Client machines.

For connecting IDT/UDT/Webi Rich client Ports of CMS, IFRS, OFRS and Connection Servers should opened bi-directional.

Thanks again Denis and Amit for your reply. Issue has been resolved by disabling the firewall on server side. FW was causing the problem for port 6400.

In addition to Amit's suggestion - make sure your client tools are on the same version.

p.s.
You cannot efficiently manage BI platform on Linux/Unix without root access.

Thanks for the potential solution but it is not working in my case. I followed the KBA Note - 1806408 - Unable to connect to BI 4.0 Server from Client Tools but no effect. I have strong feelings, should open the port 6400 in server side - may be due to some firewall blockage the port. I don't have root access on Linux box and sent the email to Unix team for this issue.Meanwhile i am checking the KBA - 2276646 and will let you know if any progress.
