I have Installed netweaver developer studio 7.1 version,While deploying a application it gives a error SDM port is not found.But in netweaver developer studio 7.1 version is there any option for giving the port name.I can find only only local host name is registered in SAP AS JAVA option using window->Preferences or in SAP SDM port should be maintained.
Hi
Check in the below path mentioned for SDM Port or ask your system administrator he/she will help on this.
*Common Problems*
*Message Server Connection*
Jcontrol cannot connect to the Message Server host/port
Often the actual port number is wrong
Check what port the MS is listening on in:
/usr/sap/<SID>/SCS<Inst>/work/dev_ms
I listen to internal port 3900 (3900)
Compare with the port that Jcontrol tries to connect to in the Dev_jcontrol
Instance properties
-> ms host : usilap34
Rgds
-SS
-> ms port : 3601
If incorrect, they need to change this in the configtool
Make sure that they Save any changes and Restart

Hi,
It seems the port not opened in the server system. Generally the port is like 50018 but i am not sure but you can check in the message the port number.
By opening the port in the server system you can deploy WD Applications. Please try that and let me know if you are facing the problem again.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308127 - check this link to open port in Windows XP.
Thanks,
Tulasi
Hi,
If you have SAP Web AS server of 7.1 release, you have to only configure the server hostname & instance no. There is no place to do give SDM port in Windows -> Preferences
You can verify that if your engine is running in NWDS itself in SAP Management Console View.
Kind Regards,
Nitin
PS: Logon to the server & you can find the details in System Info link.
