Availability check of raw material during sale order processing

Dear experts,

When i am entering the finished good in sale order processing,system should check the raw material availabilty.Is it possible in STD sap

Generally it is possible to check the ROH material availability if you maintain BOM . And it is possible if you configure the configurable material and do Variant Configuration and in Variant configuration if you maintain the sub-items as ROH material then it is possible. . Because if you create the sales order for the KMAT material then , make sure that Delivery group has been checked in the item category details also. Then when you create the sales order and do delivery and when stock is not available for any ROH material then when you try to do delivery then you cant do delivery as delivery group has been maintained. and the requirement will be passed on to PP and MM consultants

hello again, friend.

i believe what our friend sri nath is saying is that if you indicate the steel material as components to your header material BOM (instead of being raw material used in production), then you can do availability check for these steel resources. this should be viable workaround.

this is not possible in ECC. however, i think this is possible in SCM/APO using MATP.

My customer is bright bar manufacturer,They just buy the steel bar & process it & sell it to the customer.So there is only one RAW MATERIAL.

Their all the activities are mainly based on raw material.So customer wants.....when we enter the finished good system should check the RM stock,based on RM STOCK,sytem should do the availability check...& confirm the delivery date

I have mapped customer requirement,after modifying item category & assignment......

Sales BOM explosion & delivery group is maintained for header material.availability check is on at component level & header level.So now system consider the raw material stock & it conform the dates when i do availability check combinely.

I would like to know how it will affet the MRP incase of alternative BOM....FURTHER PROCESSING

No it is not possible to check the ROH material as per your requirement. By the by, can you let us know why you want to check ROH stock which is the head ache of MM people.

It is not possible. The system checks for the availability only for the material in that line item and not for any other material.

Availability check in a sales order happenes for only ordered items and your requirement goes out of logic

It is not possible

Practically also if you analyze when you are placing sales order for a finished product by having the availabilty report of their raw materials what will you achieve?

The customer wants only finished products to be delivered so availabity check gives schedule line dates

Any special scenario or reason for this business requirement?
