Can you encrypt emails and/or disable ability to add attachments via sap bo webi scheduling ?

Hi,

In SAP BO, when scheduling a webi report to be sent via email, is there a way to encrypt that email if the user sends it with the actual report attached (as opposed to just including the viewer link)? Or is there a way to disable the 'add as attachment' checkbox from the CMC or elsewhere, so it is not even available to the users?

Most posts I find related to this topic are old, so either the topic hasn't come up recently or there's a way around it. (I'm guessing not the latter since there is a similar idea still floating around on the Ideas Place.)

We need a way to limit what users can send via email, especially since there is nothing preventing them from scheduling a report to send via email, that has a report attached, outside the company.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. We are currently running SAP BO 4.1 SP6 Patch 4.

Thanks,
Missy

Missy,

There are 3rd party tools out their from APOS, 360, InfoSol and other that may help but the base product has nothing at this time.

Please mark the post resolved, if all questions has been anseres.

Missy,

Options like Save As TXT, Save AS PDF, Send to Email , Save to Local Drive are all External to the BI4 Application and BI4 has NO security control for these options. I am working with BI Platform Influence council to try and incorporate some sore of password protection for all these external options but currently there is nothing.

Hi Ajay,

Yeah, that's what I figured... I'd be happy with just the ability to 'grey out' /disable the check box for 'Add Attachment'. I am fine letting users generate an xls, pdf, etc. for the report and sending a link to the viewer - at least you can still be authenticated to view that. Password protection is a good idea, but it still doesn't prevent someone from sending the data externally.

We've talked about removing the ability to send to email and only let users send to BI Inbox, but then that puts the 'responsibility' back on them to go back to BI and check to see if the report is there, etc. as opposed to getting an email notification saying it's ready...

Thanks,

Missy
