BI-IP: modeller objects transporting options

So far, I have used the following two options to transport the IP modeller objects (aggregation levels, filters, etc.) from development to test and production:

1) Use BEx request and always transport everything collected into transport request by system, also tests and protos, which needed to be deleted then afterwards (by the next transport request)

2) Use BEx request as a dummy collector, newer release that, but empty it, and collect manually those objects I don't want to transport (incl. tests and protos)

I was wondering if the is an option to where I could always collect the objects manually without using the dummy transport request (option 2 above), i.e. create/change modeller objects without automatically assigning them in a BEx request?

What is the best practice? Thanks for sharing your experience.

It's not necessary to create the objects in planning modeler under a transport request.

You can simply start creating the planning objects in planning modeler and they will be saved with package $TMP and once you are done with your design and testing you can collect all your planning objects in transport request using 'Transport Connection' in RSA1.
