Hello Gurus.

I have configured a port as an outbound port, but do not have an option to syndicate a file in Excel or CSV format. I know you can on inbound port. How can I syndicate the file in Excel???

Thanks in advance.

Hi Igor,

Are you going for Manual Syndication or Automatic Syndication ,As there is a differnce when you use the two methods.

When you are trying to export the data from MDM manually you can mention the file name of the exported file as well as decide the format in which you want to send the data .That could be a Flat file( eg text, or delimted text) or Excel or XMl etc.by slecting the file format from the dialog box that opens while saving the export file.

But when you are trying to syndicate automatically and create an outbound port in Console you are not allowed to select the format.

As Automatic syndication happens only in 2 formats.

Flat and XML.

If you manully create the destination items in syndicator then the file goes in the flat text format with the selected delimiter

If you use an XML schema for mapping in the syndicator then the data is exported as an XML file.

To know more on automatic import and syndication kindly refer the below link:

I am doing an automatic syndication.

The reason for that, is that the business needs reports on weekly bases.

Thank you

Hi Igor,

If you are going for automatic Syndication through MDM,then you will have to compromise with the above two formats of syndication supported by MDM during automation.

- For manual creation of destination items in syndicator - the file goes out as a text file.

- When using the XML schema for mapping - The file goes out as an XML file.

For sending out data in excel or access you will have to perform a Manual syndication.

Hi Igor,

When you execute Syndication after permoming Mapping and all, a window popups which ask for the path and file name and by default file type appears Text(for Flat-file input) and XML(for XML Schema input) but you can select All Files and give the file name as Test.xls(for Excel) and test.csv(for CSV).

Hello

As per the Syndication Manual, Page 13, the MDM Syndicator can generate syndication files in both

XML and flat formats. Additionally, flat files can be created using delimited or fixed-width values.

Can you explain why you need to have excel instead of these 2 types?

Thanks
