Hello Raghuramireddy vennapusa,

  • Using DMO can we able to perform above migration ?
    >>> No.
    DMO with target database DB6 is not supported if the source database is also DB6.

  • with out upgrade DB2 can we able to upgrade EHP8 ?
    >>> No.
    Support for Db2 V9.1 through SAP has ended on 2017-12-31

  • Any possibility to upgrade DB2 to latest and SAP application EHP8 single downtime ?
    >>> No.
    Enhancement Package 8 for SAP ERP 6.0 is based on SAP NetWeaver 7.5.

    As described in SAP note#2158828, minimal DB-version has to be applied before the upgrade to NetWeaver 7.5 can take place.

    2158828 - Minimal DB system platform requirements for SAP NetWeaver 7.5
    Here, the minimal DB-version is 10.5 FP6SAP.

Note:
You can not directly upgrade the database to Db2 10.5 or 11.1. (note#101809)
Please upgrade to Db2 9.7 first.

Thank you.

Hello Raghuramireddy,

A possible roadmap could be:

  • DB upgrade (Db2 9.1 => 9.7 => 10.5 or 11.1)
  • Hetero. system copy (AIX => Linux)
  • SAP upgrade (EHP 3 => EHP8)

Kind regards
Maria

Dear Maria,

i'm clear about my question and your answer but my manager requesting more specific to check with you on below.

  • Using DMO can we able to perform above migration ?
    >>> No.
    DMO with target database DB6 is not supported if the source database is also DB6.

[raghu] are you saying the source DB and the target DB must be different for using DMO tool?

[raghu] DMO cannot be used when source and target DB are the same regardless of whether it is DB6, oracle, mssqsl, is my understanding correct?

  • with out upgrade DB2 can we able to upgrade EHP8 ?
    >>> No.
    Support for Db2 V9.1 through SAP has ended on 2017-12-31

[raghu] okay.

  • Any possibility to upgrade DB2 to latest and SAP application EHP8 single downtime ?
    >>> No.
    Enhancement Package 8 for SAP ERP 6.0 is based on SAP NetWeaver 7.5

[raghu] are you saying that there is no other tool except DMO to automate the migration?

Thank you,

Raghu
