I am unable to get a hierarchy variable to show up in my Crystal Report. I am following the directions in the Users Guide but not getting the expected results. I am selecting a hierarchy variable (user entry) when selecting a hierarchy for the characteristic. When I create a new report against this query I do not see the hierarchy variable. The hierarchy node variable also does not appear, but this is normal because it is an authorization variable, not a user entry variable.
I am running CR XI R2.

Hi,
take a look at note 1007048

Note 1007048 - MDX: Filtering of variables in the hierarchy display
Symptom
In the Business Explorer (BEx) variable dialog, a variable for the hierarchy names is displayed. This variable is used solely in the settings for displaying the hierarchy in the query. The system fails to display this variable in the output of BAPI_MDPROVIDER_GET_VARIABLES
Solution
After you implement this correction, you can enter the value "X" for object "MDX_ALL_HIER_VAR" in program "SAP_RSADMIN_MAINTAIN". This ensures that all of the variables for the hierarchy names are always displayed in BAPI_MDPROVIDER_GET_VARIABLES
Hi Mike,
not sure why you having that issue. you go to http://service.sap.com/notes and enter the note number.
the note needs to be imported into the SAP system directly
