CO GO Live activity

I have read a document for Go Live activity, where written that

Step ; 1 Update Standard prices of Semi finish and finish material thru MR21

Step ; 2 Upload the above materials stock and then

After the stock is uploaded into the system, the standard cost estimate will be

marked and released into the material master using transaction code CK40N.

Is this experts recommendation, If I done Step 1 and costing run CK40N use till marking not release to check material prices. Is it will be OK.
