Crystal Reports 2016 SP3 Issue

Hi teams,

I have a customer attempting to download SP3 of Crystal Reports 2016, but states that he has the following issue:

"I downloaded anyway an exe file of about 700 MB. This was named "CR201603_0-80000444". No login was required.

I extracted that file but was there no indication of its destination except that it was being extracted to a Temp folder. Now I cannot find that extraction in any temp folder in my computer files."

Is there another destination for the Service Pack or is he missing something? Basically, he needs MS Access 2016 to work as a data source.

You might look for a folder whose name starts with "RARSFX" under C:\Users\%USER%\AppData\Local. Also, if the .exe automatically starts unzipping the files, it will usually automatically run the setup.exe that unzipped - it may take a few minutes for everything to catch up and something to appear on the screen. You can use the Task Manager to see what's running. Even if the user is logged in with Administrator rights, he should right-click on the .exe and select "Run As Administrator" to get this to work.

Look for setup.exe, it'll be on your PC somewhere

Hi Chris,

Those download patches are incremental, meaning they have to download each one to get to SP 3.

I don't recall the exact path now though but see if it's under the root drive or possibly under the users folder structure:

C:\Users\%USER%\AppData\Local and possibly the \temp folder

Also, it should run, make sure you are using a local PC Admin account, try right clicking on it and selecting Run As Administrator.

Don,

I sent along your response to the customer and I received this response and screenshot. I am a little stumped here on this one. I would imagine that it is a really straightforward process!

"Please find attached the screenshot of the version I am running. This is SP2.

When I download SP3 from the site you led me to, I get the following file: "CR201603_0-80000444.exe". This is 700,587 KB. When I execute this file, I immediately get an extraction process but with no indication where the file is to be found OR what the name[s] will be. By the way, this did not require a login. And I do not think I have a login.

I am running a windows 10 desktop in a home network environment and am an administrator of the operating system.

Ihave looked in the path you have indicated [C:\Users\%USER%\AppData\Local and possibly the \temp folder] and elsewhere at the root of the drive but can find nothing related to SAP or crystal, etc.

Thanks for your continued help with this process!

I look forward to being able to use Crystal Reports 2016 with microsoft access databases."capture.png
