How to View Data

Former Member

Greetings gurus,

I'm working through DS Tutorial and ran a job (for WF, DF) to import data from SALES_ORG.TXT into SALESORG_DIM.

The job completed successfuly and the attribute said 3 rows were loaded.

But when I goto the SALESORG_DIM to View Data, it found no data.

Where do I need to look?

I appreciate your insight.

Hello--

I'm not certain whether re-installing the DS (Client) or renaming the registry from "settings" to "settings1" hlep fixed the problem, but it works now.

Thanks for everyone's help.

I didnt get any error executing the Job.

When I installed Data Services on my machine, I had to exclude all the "Server" related components in my installation.

The system admin created a login account for me with my own local data respository.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

can you attach the screen shots for the view data window and datastore window

or other option would be to get help from support, you can file a incident with them

its hard to guess what might be wrong, someone have to look at your setup and env to see whats going wrong

check your OS to see whether it is supported by DS

I've followed your suggestions but still the gray subwindow.

My Profiler Server Localhost is not running. What is the Profiler Server Localhost? Is that why I'm not able to view data?

view data has nothing to do with Profier Server, the data is read directly from the database not through proflier server

are you getting any ocx control not registered warning or error when you designer ? do you any other installation of Designer wher you can check this

I defined the Target Datastore as Oracle database type/connection and accepted the default configurations.

When I select the Target table (CUST_DIM) and choose Properties/Attributes, the log says there were records inserted and no erorr.

If I choose the View Data tab, I see no data, just a blank gray sub window.

Do I need to explicitly tell it to populate this target table in Data Services even though I can see the contents of that table using SQL at the DOS Prompt?

DI doesn't store data in its repository, it will read the data from the table using the connection information from the Datastore

can you try following options

1 - Open the dataflow that is using this table as source or target, on the source or target you will see a magnifying glass icon click on that, does this diaplys the data ?

2 - Right click on the table from the datastore and click on View Data

The view data page, again has few more tabs, click on the Data Tab, its the first tab, the other tabs are for displaying profiling data, if no profiling is done you will see a gray window

I can see the data by executing SELECT statement in SQLPLUS at the DOS Prompt.

But I cannot view the data within Data Services.

Does any BOBJ Gurus know what I'm missing?

does your datastore have multiple configurations ?

if yes, what is the configuration that you used to execute the Job ? set the same configuration as default configuration and the n check if you are able to view the data ?

do you get an error ? or empty rows in the view data window ?

Thanks for your reply.

I'm using Oracle 10g.

I can see the data using SQL Select Statement against table SALESORG_DIM, but I cant view the data using the DS Designer.

What's missing?

Try the Refresh button in View Data Panel
