Portal menu not available if I use IP address instead of "localhost" in URL

Dear All,

The portal menu items are not available if I use the IP address of the server in the URL, but if I use "localhost" instead of the IP address all work fine and all the menu items are available.

bad URL

http://192.168.1.201:50000/irj/portal -> don't work

good URL

http://localhost:50000/irj/portal -> all work fine

Can anybody help me?

Hi,

The portal server should be accessed with the fully qualified domain name of that server.

This is because the SAP logon ticket is stored as a cookie in the browser.

It is a feature of cookies that they are only sent back to the domain that set them.

This is to protect your privacy by making it harder to track your browsing across different websites.

I've added a new entry in our DNS server in order to resolve the server name into IP address.

Now all work fine.
