Need Help on MRP Storage Locations

Hi

I'm having an issue with APO MRP areas.

The scenario is, I have SMI (supplier managed inventory) and client managed inventory in two storage locations with different stocking types in ECC. The two storage locations are physically separated but they are under same plant. If I have to plan this in APO I have to create 2 MRP areas to distinguish b/w SMI and client storage location. When I Cif this storage locations to APO it will be treated as separate location with location type 1007. When there is a requirement from Client and when I run the planning run STR are generated (since I have maintained transportation lanes b/w them) against SMI and I need to send this STR's to ECC and do the execution. So my query is how ECC will consider this STR's that are generated from the planning run , and how execution will take place. Mean to say how the goods movement happens in ECC. Is there any setting need to be done apart from setting MRP area storage locations, MRP area materials, Creating Integration model, activating integration model. Setting up transportation lane b/w client location>>SMI location.

Hi sharath,

I have the same scenario in my previous project wherein there are two locations meant for distribution and storage but physically they are not separated.

In APO, we have mapped those two locations separately and not as single entity. If you map as a single location in APO, the STR's cannot be used and Goods movement cannot be executed.

Regarding your second issue, if you have selected "periodical transfer" in your IMG settings, then you may have to transfer the change pointers manually to transfer STRs from APO to ECC.

Please confirm

Hi Senthil,

Thank you for your reply. The reason why the STR's were not showing up was I had not maintained manual reservatiions in Distribution definition in APO. Once I maintained the manual reservation for the 2 MRP areas and the Plant STR's were CIFed to ECC successfuly.

The scenario what I had explained you is same what you had in your pervious projects. Let me explain the shortly what I have maintained in ECC and CIFed to APO for planning.

I have created 2 storage location MRP areas in ECC under the same plant. I have created a material and assigned the 2 MRP areas to the material in MRP 1 view. I have CIFed this 2 MRP areas to APO which are identified as 2 separate locations in APO. When I run the planning run for the material a stock transfer reservation is created for MRP area. When I see the same the STR is shown up in MD04 stock overview screen. When I see the detaisl for the STR it has a goods movement type 301.

I need to understand from your end if the you had the same scenario and if use to get the same STR's what was the approach in executing this STR's in ECC MM in your previous project. Do let me know how to take this forward for the goods movement. And one more question when I see the stock overview MD04 the details of STR there is no vendor for that order. I know I have not assigned the vendor, can you explain me how I can maintain the vendor for which I can see the vedor details in my STR details.

Sharath, we are using mrp areas... here's some things that might help you.

In MRP2 screen of your material master mrp area have you maintained special procurement key 99 stock transfer to mrp area?

We maintain a storage location for external procurement in the MRP area which is different to the storage location for EP at the plant level.

Also during your planning run you may find that the stock at the mrp area is taken into account in the two locations, both plant and mrp area. Use EXIT_/SAPAPO/SAPLCIF_STOCK_001 APOCF011 to change the stock category at the mrp location, OSS note 487166, if you don't want this to happen.

Good luck,

Chris

Hi Sharath,

The two storage locations will be considered as entities as similar to how they are maintained in R/3. If they are not identifiable in system, the STR's generated also will be from single storage location.

Hi Senthil,

I appreciate for your quick response. From your reply you mean to say that the MRP Areas storage locations will be identified as separate Locations in APO. Is that what you mean?

I agree. And I have modelled this in my system. Two storage location under the same plant are defined as two MRP areas in ECC and then I have CIFed these MRP areas to APO which are identified as two separate locations. I have maintained Transporation Lanes b/w this. When I created forecast(200 ea) manually in Product view for Location 1 (which is our company storage location) and when I run the Heuristics a purchase requisition for 200 quanity is created for SMI location 2. When again if I run the heuristic or save the results a Stock Transfer Reservation is generated. This is the expected results from APO planning.

My question is when i generate the STR's in APO, how this STR's will get executed in ECC (How goods movements happen). ECC team says that they cannot use STR's for executing the goods movement. Is that right?

Since SAP has provided MRP Areas Storage Location functionality in SAP APO there should be a way to execute this STR's in ECC. Can you please give any valuable recommendations.

****I have a new issue for now. When I'm trying to transfer the STR's from APO to ECC the STR's are not getting CIFed to ECC. I have selected the Manual reservation as the section criteria and my intergreatrion model is active with no CIF errors. Can anyone tell me if I'm missing any CIF/Master data setting.

Sharath,

Stock transport requisitions CIF across to ECC and become purchase requisitions, similar to the stock transport purchase requisition that could be created by ECC MRP if you had no APO.

When it becomes time to execute, the STR/PuRq is converted to a Stock Transport Order (a special type of purchase order). The conversion taskes place in ECC, but it can be triggered by APO if you wish.

Depending on where you elect to perform these activities, ECC and SCM will exchange appropriate data to update document numbers (APO and ECC typically use different doc number ranges for creation and execution). APO differentiates between POs and PRs that are created in APO and those that are created by, or converted in, ECC.

In order for ECC to receive STR data from SCM, all configuration and Master data for Stock Tranport Purchase Reqs and Stock Transport Orders must have been previously created. Generally, a good test is that you should be able to manually create a purchase req in ECC with no error messages, and you should be convert that purchase req into a stock transport order with no errors.

Actual execution is in ECC. You will issue and receive the STO in ECC just as if it had been created there. All transactions against the STO are automatically sent to APO to update the planning info that exists in APO.

Hi DB49,

Thank you for your reply. Here I need to understand the STR (Stock Transfer Reservations) which when I use the MRP areas as separate loctions in APO. When you have created storage location MRP areas and when you CIF it to APO it will be treated as 2 separate locations. But the 2 storage locations will be under a same plant in ECC. When I run the planning run in APO stock transfer reservations are generated. The only catch I need to understand is how the execution happens in MM. How this STR's will be treated. This is where I have to understand.

When I check the goods movement type of stock transfer reservations which are created and CIFed back to ECC will have 301 movement type. Using this STR's how MM/OTC Distribution team will execute the transactions b/w the two storage locations under the same plant. What more infromation I need to provide from APO end.
