Hi guys,
Is there any way we can store up to 5 decimal point data in the planning book keyfigures?
We want to store "exchange rate" which has 5 decimal points, but our infoobject with data type "number" can store only 3 decimal points.
We are on 4.1
Thank in advance,
Anha
Dear Anha,
Note 389760 states that Live Cache cannot store more than 3 decimal places.
But you can calculate and display the values in the planning book with a specified number of decimal places varying between 0 and 6.
e.g. if you are trying to store a material price value as 0.00050 in the LiveCache that is not possible. It will always be stored as 0.
But if this value is calculated using a macro (or otherwise), then it can be displayed as 0.00050.
I hope I could help you further.

Tibor

That is what we are thinking now, since there is no other way, I'll do in this way.
Thanks guys,
Anha

Hi everybody,
Just wanted a small clarification on the same issue.
In SCM 2007, under the planning area settings, we can define the number of decimal places for a key figure.
the available options are 0, 1, 2,3 and "M": maximum number of decimal places"
Do we restrict the decimal places from this option, or there is some standard setting that we can store only upto 3 decimal places in the planning area.
Regards,
Kedar
Hi Kedar,
You can set decimals at the planning area itself and at the Dataview level.
To do settings at planning area level, you need to go to transcation /sapapo/msdp_admin
To do settings at Dataview level you goto the design mode of the dataview.
The decimal places set at the planning area will restrict the decimals positions at the LC level.
The decimal places set at the dataview will restrict the decimal positions at the display level.
So if its 3 decimal places at planning area and 2 decimal places at dataview 12.345678 will be available as 12.345 in LC and 12.34 in dataview.
However if its 2 decimal places at planning area and 3 decimal places at dataview 12.345678 will be available as 12.34 in LC and 12.34 in dataview (since only 12.34 is available in LC).
Hope I answered your query.
Hi Anuradha,
Thanks for the inputs. So the planning area dataview settings overrids the dataview settings. Just wondering why the option of "M": Maximum decimal places is given in planning area in SCM2007. Does it mean that I can go beyond the 3 decimal places for a key figure.
In addition for the individual unit of measures (tcode "cuni"), we can also define the decimal places.
Now say I have a base unit of measure as KG, for which there are 4 decimal places defined (tcode "cuni"). In the planning area, the setting is for 3 decimal places and planning unit of measure is also KG, how will the data be visible?
Regards,
Kedar
You can set the decimal points for a keyfigure at the planning area level (the way the data is to eb stored in LC).
And then you can also set the decimal points to be displyed by right clicking on the keyfigure in the design mode.
Please let me know if you need any more information
