changing value in su24

Hello,

am new to sap ,would anybody out there give me guidence on how to change the value of auth-object in SU24,i have tried but getting following messsage.All inputs will be appreciated.

Changing SU24 to meet your authorization concept requirements is recommended, but you need to know what you are doing, otherwise you can easily make a mess.

If you do not know what this means nor how to find what's missing, then I recommend that you do not change anything in SU24 either (for the moment)...

First inform yourself about the fundamentals of designing security in SAP, before you start making changes.

Thanks for your concern ,actually i am working in a test client and trying to figure out how to make changes in author-object check to checks/maintain.

Okay, but as per the above message this is cross-client... so you need to be going your testing in a sandbox if you want to change SU24 just for testing or training.

SU24 is not just a transaction. It is a key part of the authorization concept within a landscape of systems (and the logical system in that landscape - the SAP clients).

SU24 should be maintained in your development system together with developing roles and applications (e.g. transactions). You should not be changing it in "test clients" further up the pipeline.

Please read the application help on SU24 and some of the discussions here about it (although, I cannot remember the client independency having been discussed before).
