Deactivating users not working for a customer

Hi,

We are working with a customer, trying to upgrade them this quarter. They have the following 2 issues about user licensing:

1. They have a 30 days trial of BOBJ 3x and they imported a bunch of users into it. More than 10 which is what the trial key is for. When they "deactivated" enough users to go below 10 it still would not work. They contacted other people they know using XI and they were told the users need to be "deleted" not deactivated for the license count to be reduced. This is a show stopper for him he says due to audit/compliance requirements. Currently they have a 1500 named user license but have over 6000 total users in repository--the balance of which are deactivated. People who left etc over the last five years. Question is can users be "deactivated" but still in repository along with things they had access to?

I would think that this should work. What can they change to make it possible to deactivate a user so it doesn't count against the license limit without deleting them entirely from the CMS Database?

2. Webi full use and webi viewer: how are these licenses controlled and audited? The customer would like to be able to simply query the system to see how many users have been activated for webi viewer and webi full client use. Is there a simple way to do this?

Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

Bret.
