Adding Connections to SQL Server

How do you connect to sql server 2005 (SQL Server Management Studio) and directly run queries or execute Stored Procedures? I do not have web services and I do not have Crystal 2008. Can I bypass Exel totally too? I have been told yes by our HQ but they cant seem to develop either, but I dont think I have the correct setup on my end. Can anyone shed some light on my problem?

Hi Bryan,

depending on your Xcelsius version, you may connect to SSRS. (SQL Server, Reporting services).

You have to build your reports with Reporting Services and then can connect to the reports with Xcelsius.

During runtime, Excel will be bypassed. It's just leveraged as a calcuation and design engine.
